interview with Congorock!
Submitted by Georgia Peach on March 7th 2012
He has been a favourite of ours for a few years and is always a welcomed visitor to our shores. So with open arms we welcome back, Congorock.
Clubsguide had the opportunity to chat to him during his already busy year. Actually, he had just left the studio when we stopped him to talk.
Otherwise known as Rocco, the Italian mastermind is on his way back to tour Australia on behalf of Creamfields festival. But before all that, Congorock is busy in the studio creating new masterpieces to his already stellar fine work of art.
Travelling from his home town of Lecce in Italy to California in the USA is a new move for Congorock.
“I moved to get more inspiration and to feel more motivated.”
Over the years we have heard banging tunes from Congorock such as ‘Babylon’, ‘Ivory’ and ‘Sirius.’ This also included a huge successful remix of Swedish House Mafia’s hit ‘One’.
Although he has been a tad quiet production wise lately, his gigs continue to grow. He blames this on his love for video games such as Skyrim which he is currently trying to clock.
Having just left our shores not long ago, he is back in April for Creamfields alongside David Guetta, Above and Beyond, Alesso and many more.
He has always given us a show to remember, but here is something he has promised us now, “I will be, for the first time, playing all new stuff. I have been working really hard. I’ve actually just come from the studio.”
Though he works for dance music, he is a proud Punk Rock fan and has grown up loving the Beatles.
“’Across the Universe’ has been my favourite song since I was about 8. They are my favourite band of all time.”
Congorock confessed that together with his love for rock, he also has had his fair share of involvements in rock bands.
When asked about his most memorable gig, he spoke about his weirdest gig in an art gallery in Italy.
“I was surprised about the crowd and I think the crowd was surprised about my sound.
“…with Benny (Benassi) at the Winter Music Conference there was so much energy. I think we have very good formula… and we work together really good. So, i think this would be more most memorible.”
Nevertheless, it is fair to say that the hits will continue to come in 2012 by Congorock.
Catch him here in Melbourne on the 28th of April playing at Creamfields.
